Redwood Empire Endurance Riders

Cuneo Creek Rides Sept. 4 & 5, 2010

The Redwood Empire Endurance Riders (REER) invite you to join us at this year’s Cuneo Creek Endurance Ride. Part of the California State Park system, the Cuneo Creek Horse Camp is the site for this beautiful ride. In the heart of the redwood forest, this ride offers challenging climbs, spectacular views, and plenty of water along trails and access roads, all with excellent footing. You will cross creeks and bridges, and ride along winding single-track trails through the majestic redwood and tan oak forests. Wildlife is abundant with turkey, bear and deer most observed. The camp has showers, tables, potable water and horse corrals (first-come, first-served basis only).

Saturday and Sunday both offer a 30-mile and a 50-mile ride. All vet checks are in camp. We are limited to 80 riders per day. Due to a horses-in-camp limit, there will not be a 10-mile ride, and please do not bring extra horses that you are not entering in a ride.

LOCATION: The camp is approximately 7.3 miles west of Highway 101 on the road to Honeydew, just north of Weott, between Eureka and Garberville. Take the Honeydew exit and go west through the State Park following the ride camp signs and ribbons to the Cuneo Creek Horse Camp, just past a small cemetery on the right side of the road. The ride camp opens at noon, Friday, October 9th, and closes at noon, Monday, October 12th. For additional camping, contact Humboldt Redwoods State Park at 707-946-2409. Early/late stays must pay additional camp fees to the Park.

RIDE RULES: The Cuneo Creek Endurance Ride will comply with all AERC, REER & State of California rules/regulations. All equines must have some type of hoof protection to enter the rides. Dogs are welcome, but must be on a leash and comply with all state of California Park regulations. Violators are subject to ticketing and substantial fines from the Park.

FOOD: Dinner will be provided for all entrants at the awards banquet on Saturday and Sunday evenings, starting about 6:00pm. Extra meal tickets are $15. Catered by Ramones Café, and always delicious.

ENTRY FORM NOTES: Download adult and junior rider entry forms at here. 30 and 50 milers must show proof of current AERC membership or pay a $15 non-member fee. Entries postmarked by September 30th save $10 per ride entered.
